The Kitchen Salon founder, Megan Davis is a Natural Hair Culturist that has been educating and empowering community members about Natural Hair since 2001.She uses a fusion of gifts in the arts to create engaging experiences for presentations, workshops and other events.

She has hosted several workshops and community programs from public libraries, schools and universities, to Museums, churches, causes, and other private events.

Transitioning to Natural Hair

This program is for those who are considering going natural and need a place to start, how to proceed and how to manage the transition from chemically treated hair to natural hair.

Natural Hair Fundamentals

Learn about the basic hair care practices, tools and techniques to start or maintain your natural hair journey.

Our HAIRitage

This program covers the history of The Black Hair Aesthetic, Cultural Symbolism, and the Evolution of  Hair Care in the Black Community as well as Main Stream Society.

Exploring Natural Hairstyles

This program explores the many style options and versatility of natural hair. From basic braids to invisible crochet, natural hairstyles evolve almost daily and are always trending.

Hairlocking Fundamentals

For those who are interested in starting a locking journey, this program will define the locking methods, the locking process and will help determine which locs are best for you.

Natural Hair Care for Foster/Adoptive Parents

This program is for foster/adoptive parents and guardians who are raising/caring for African American Children. Topics include understanding natural hair, learning proper tools and products, and the cultural significance of  natural hair.

The Kiddie Salon

This is a fun way to introduce little ones to haircare. This is a family program that teaches kids how to embrace their natural beauty/handsomeness through music, art, and exploring hairstyles and textures.

Mane Mondays

Mane Mondays is a series of Natural Hair Programs that may be weekly or monthly and cover topics as listed above and others including product swaps and salon searches.

Tools, Techniques & Products

Learn the tools and techniques of caring for natural hair and explore the many options there are for Black Hair Care products on the market today.

Natural Hair & The Law

This program covers issues associated with discrimination against natural hairstyles, most commonly worn by African Americans and its impact in schools and the workplace.

Hormones and Hair Loss

Hair loss is something that affects many around the world. This program addresses common issues that cause hair loss as well as discovering styling techniques and products to help manage during the regrowth process.

Mixmaster Class

This  hands on class explores common kitchen and garden ingredients suitable for hair and skincare.

Art Programs

This is a series of visual and audio art for children up to age 10 to inspire creativity. Classes are 1-2 hour blocks.

Creative Writing

Whether you love Neo Soul or enjoy Poetry or books, creative writing is a great way to express ideas, thoughts and feelings in a small group.

Crafternoon

Crafternoon is a mid day offering for small groups to work on individual or collective projects. (They may be seasonal or holiday focused). This is great for church groups.

Curlfriends Meetup

A planned gathering of Naturalistas in a home or other location to share hair journeys, connect, learn, inspire and have fun.
